Is rock and roll only from the 50's and 60's? or can it be from any time period?

what exactly is rock and roll?

i have to find at least 3 examples of it for my history of rock and roll class ..

so .. do u think i could use .. i dunno .. the click five or the beach boys as an example?|||Yes. The term "Rock-and-Roll" was first used in 1951 by Alan Freed, a Cleveland disc jockey.

What it is... go with the Wikipedia info.

You can pick your examples from the list here:

If it were me, I'd have Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Little Richard on that list.

The Beach Boys came a bit later, and you could certainly use them as an example, but I'd rather see The Beatles or the Rolling Stones on there.

Kabum|||The terms 'Rock Music' and 'Rock and Roll' encompass so many different sub genres; Blues Rock, Rockabilly, Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Acid Rock, Progressive Rock, Jazz/Rock (fusion), Punk Rock, etc. But in general, it's all 'Rock and Roll'. Even Heavy Metal, EMO, Goth etc are all forms of Rock and Roll. I'm not a big fan of Wikipedia, but in this case they are correct;

Here is a list of all 'Rock' sub genres:

EDIT - Please don't listen to someone like 'Mr.Risin' (below), as he really doesn't know what he's talking about. No offense Mr. Risin.|||rock and roll was first sayd in 1921

im not sure wat song but the lyrics go

like my baby rocks me with one steady roll

but rock and roll died in the late 70's

there were some good in the 80's
