Getting into 60s rock and roll?

I've been looking to broaden my musical interests and I'd like to do this by listening to some 60s rock. I've been listening to a lot of the Beatles and the Kinks but does anyone have any more suggestions?

Specific songs would be good, but bands are fine :)Getting into 60s rock and roll?
Hello there,

For other British Invasion (mid 60s) rock, give these a try

Animals, Byrds, Who, Zombies, Dave Clark Five, Peter and Gordon, Chad and Jeremy, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddie and the Dreamers, Herman's Hermits.

Some interesting US bands from that era, Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Association, the Buckinghams, the Mommas and Pappas, and Sonny and Cher.

Post British Invasion into Acid Rock era, give these a try

Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Donovan, Yardbirds, Steppenwolf, Moody Blues, Doors, Sha Na Na, Canned Heat, Led Zeppelin (into the early 70s), Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Procol Harum, Vanilla Fudge and Strawberry Alarm Clock.

Some R%26amp;B from the 60s, give these a try

The 4 Tops, the Supremes, Booker T and the MGs, the 5th Dimension, James Brown, and Wilson Pickett. Oh yeah, forgot, would you believe the early years of the Jackson 5.

And Bob Dylan. He does not fit into any of those classes, he deserves a class by himself. Any thing by Bob is great.

If you want some songs, I will go back and add them.

Later,

Also check out the music from Woodstock (summer 1969) and the Monterrey Pop Festival (1967). You can find songs/bands from those by searching Youtube for the festival name.
I'm younger like you (at least I think you're younger because of this question) and I listen to a lot of earlier rock'n'roll:) Here are some suggestions, but feel free to ask me if you have any questions about these bands, or if you want more!

-The Beatles, like you said, are a great band to listen to! (If you haven't already, try some of their later stuff like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Across the Universe)

-Check out John Lennon and George Harrison's solo music also:)

-The Kinks

-The Doors (Jim Morrison IS the lizard king!)

-Jefferson Airplane (I highly recommend White Rabbit and Somebody to Love)

-Pink Floyd (Some songs to check out: Hey You, Another Brick in the Wall, Wish You were Here, Mother, Pigs, etc.)

-Syd Barrett (He's a member of Pink Floyd, but he has solo music also)

-Rolling Stones (Get Off Of My Cloud is #1!)

-Bob Dylan (Don't call his music 'folk music'.... he doesn't like that.)

-Joan Baez (You can find some songs by both Bob Dylan and Joan Baez also... She's more folkier)

-Donovan (eh.... not my favorite, but he was sort of friends with Bob Dylan)

-Jimi Hendrix (Jimi was the God of Guitar!.... and Jim Morrison was the God of Rock.)

-Eric Clapton (Saw him live this Summer! Not my favorite guitarist, but he's okay... I really just don't like him because he stole George Harrison's wife:/)

-U2

-The Animals (I really like their cover of Bob Dylan's song, House of the Rising Sun:))

-The Ramones (a bit more modern than the others, but still good)

-Cat Stevens (Check out Peace Train!!)

How about some known bands or musicians such as The Rolling Stones; Jeff Beck Group; Bob Dylan; Jefferson Airplane;

Mind you, I have a little knowledge, if not none, of 60s rock
The Who "My Generation" and the whole "Tommy" album
