How do you download the songs from your library onto your ipod?

I have an iPod classic, if that changes anything. But I have 9 songs in my library and I wanna know how to put them onto my iPod. Everyone is saying press "sync", but I have no clue where that is. And then people are saying go to file, and then it'll say "Sync _____'s iPod" but I don't see that.|||mark the songs that u want an then press sync at the bottom of the screen
