How are artists selected for the rock and roll hall of fame?

Performers can be inducted 25 years after the release of their first record. Other categories include non-performers, early influences, and side men.|||some feel is effectively controlled by a few individuals, including founder Jann Wenner and writer Dave Marsh, and therefore reflects their tastes, rather than the views of the rock world as a whole. there are a disproportionate number of lesser-known 1950s acts, as opposed to, for example, progressive rock and heavy metal acts. most of the inductees are American or are British artists that were successful in the U.S. the only progressive rock band inducted was Pink Floyd in 1996 for their groundbreaking concert spectaculars, record-breaking album sales, and immeasurable charity work. Pink Floyd were never a favorite of music critics, especially with Rolling Stone reviewers, but their commercial success and achievements made them impossible to ignore. the discrimination towards heavy metal bands in the rock and roll hall of fame has softened somewhat in recent years as Black Sabbath was inducted in 2006. The only hard rock bands in prior to Sabbath were Led Zeppelin in 1995,Queen and Aerosmith in 2001, and AC/DC in 2003.


The Sex Pistols, inducted in 2006, refused to attend.|||Only rule I know is it has to be at least 25 years old on around for that long.|||Talent
