On a recent trip the RnR Hall of Fame with my adult daughter we saw a nice tribute to Nelson. When my daughter asked what his contribution was, besides just a cutie with a pleasant voice, I told her he was the first rock star "invented" on TV. Do you feel I was correct? Can you think of any other contribution of his?
Thanks!|||Correct in a way but not totally.
I went to see him play once at a small place in Georgetown, Va. called The Cellar Door back in the early 70's and found him to be kind of shy person in a way. Not a great TV star/actor by any means, but he was a kid thrown into the big-time and loved music more than acting. After seeing him play and than years later hearing him sing 'Garden Party' I almost wanted to cry, but I felt his 'rage' than and can tell you that's one reason why I like smaller venues rather than larger arena size concerts.
As for him being in the RnR Hall, that's just an other matter, but the Hall is just an other 'invention'.|||The songs "Hello Mary Lou", "Poor Little Fool" and "Garden Party".
